Job vacancy : Temporary Administrative Assistant needed for Charter High School (SoHo)

Overview:
Broome Street Academy is a unique SUNY-authorized charter high school partnered with and located at The Door, a nationally renowned multi-service youth development organization in Lower Manhattan. The Academy’s mission is to prepare New York City’s most vulnerable young people to graduate with Regents diplomas through a rigorous curriculum that is grounded in the principles of positive youth development. Broome Street Academy opened in August 2011 with its inaugural 9th grade class comprised of 110 students. The school’s overarching goal is that the most “disconnected” young people, through the support found at Broome Street Academy and The Door, will have the opportunity to realize excellent academic achievement while receiving comprehensive support services. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for main office reception, administrative projects, data-entry, correspondence, and maintenance of confidential records.

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain confidential student records, including data-entry into multiple databases
• Input student data into web-based student information system
• Organize materials and records in compliance with reporting requirements for the State University of New York , the Office of School Food and Nutrition, the New York City Department of Health, and the Office of Pupil Transportation
• Implement systems to maximize organization of the school office and paperwork requirements
• Answer and route all incoming phone calls in a professional, courteous and consistent manner
• Perform all necessary aspects of office management and reception, including maintaining inventory of office supplies, mail distribution, copying, correspondence, mass mailing, and documentation of student enrollment and attendance

Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred and 1-2 years administrative experience required
• Highly organized; able to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Strong data tracking skills and impeccable attention to detail
• Computer literacy a must (Microsoft Office, Excel in particular, database management)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
• Ability to work well under pressure, meet multiple deadlines, think critically, and problem-solve.
• Excellent verbal, written and phone communications skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Salary: $16/hour, Temporary

Hours: 40 hours/week, 8:15AM-4:45PM Monday-Friday, 2 Months
